Polished Concrete vs Standard Floors

In many respects, polished concrete flooring is a far more practical and pleasant alternative to choose for your flooring needs than standard flooring. After installation, you’ll be awestruck at how gleaming and beautiful concrete floors can be since they require far less maintenance.

To steadily chisel surfaces to the required brightness and smoothness, polishing concrete uses powerful refining machines with discs or parts with diamond inclusions of extra-fine grits (similar to sandpaper).

Throughout this process, the concrete will witness chiseling, polishing, and slicing using finer diamond abrasives until the floor attains the ideal gloss.

There are four different shine/finish levels for polished concrete.

Different Levels of Polished Concrete

1 – Soft Matte Finish:

With little clarity or shine, a Level 1 Polished Concrete floor will have a matte appearance and appear fuzzy and soft.

2 – Low Sheen Finish:
The sheen of a Level 2 Polished Concrete floor is subtle luster. For polished concrete, this is the most preferred floor finish. You can notice a faint overhead reflection at a radius of around 100 feet.

3 – Medium Gloss Finish
Gloss level 3 Polished Concrete floor is medium.  Sheen of this polish leaves behind on the floor will reflect things. This is ideal for settings that require a glossy finish, such as cafés, breweries, and retail establishments. A good light reflectance will be present, and you can notice the floor’s bright reflection of light from 30 to 50 feet away.

4 – High Gloss Finish
A high gloss finish is present on a Level 4 Polished Concrete floor. This polish creates the highest shine, akin to glass, with excellent light reflection. From several angles, the floor almost seems damp.

Why Polished Concrete?

Installation of polished concrete is labour-intensive, making it a unique flooring option. The foundational element of a house is the concrete slab. As a result, we can set substantial pricing in advance without worrying about market volatility.

We usually lay polished concrete before or after we build a house. In contrast, we install hardwood floors at the end of a home’s construction.

This scheduling change must occur so the floor can undergo polishing alongside mechanical, roofing, and even window installation. Other flooring options can’t compare to their benefits, especially regarding efficiency, durability, and longevity.

The main distinguishing benefits include the following:-

●       High Durability.

●       Cost Effective

●       Life-Span

●       Easy to Maintain.

●       Many Design Options.

●       Sanitary

●       Slip-Resistant
