Nonslip Polished Concrete Floors – FAQs
Polished concrete has become increasingly popular over the years, its looks and practicality among the many reasons. Have questions about nonslip polished concrete floors?
If you’re thinking about giving your floor a new look, polished concrete will give an instant facelift to your home or business. Along with their stunning appearance, nonslip polished concrete floors are a safe surface and they’re easy to maintain.
How is it all done?
The process is similar to indoor polished concrete with small additions at the end. Your existing floor is ground down using a machine that’s equipped with diamond-abrasive grits.
You can choose the level of exposure, meaning more or less of the aggregate can be seen. A sealer will be applied, and the result will be either a glossy finish, or a modern yet rustic salt-and-pepper appearance. To make nonslip polished concrete floors, a nonslip grit or additive will be added to the topcoat of the sealer. A honed finish is recommended for outdoor surfaces.
This is not high gloss but will save you from requiring regular applications of the nonslip grit every 18 months. It’s also easier to clean.
Where are the best places to use nonslip polished concrete?
While you can decide where, nonslip polished concrete is best suited to areas that can get wet, like the poolside, driveway, garage and foyer.
Can I polish an existing floor?
Almost any existing floor can be polished, making it an eco-friendly and cost-effective choice. Some floors will need a little preparation first to remove dirt or blemishes.
Is nonslip concrete easy to clean?

What about people with allergies?
