Have you ever looked at your floors and thought “is there something I can do to make them better?” The short answer: Yes. Melbourne polished concrete finishes is just the thing!
As an eco-friendly flooring solution, Melbourne polished concrete finishes will make your home or commercial space look amazing. It’s a durable and hard-wearing option that will stand the test of time.
Melbourne polished concrete finishes use whatever materials you already have. They won’t chip like other materials such as timber. We use heavy duty polishing machines equipped with diamond abrasive grits that grind down the surface of your floor to your desired level of shine and smoothness. You can choose between a matte or high-gloss finish. Even if your floors are damaged, we can repair it to whatever level you require. You can also choose between acrylic, epoxy or polyurethane sealers that come in satin or gloss finish.
You’ll have an abundance of options. Let’s take a deeper look.
Full exposure
The grinding process takes your concrete right down to maximum exposure of stones. Approximately 5mm of concrete is removed and that is the best way to achieve consistency in exposure. This is the easiest exposure level to achieve, yet it yields the most remarkable results. With the stones being more easily polished, your concrete can retain high gloss.
Random Exposure
Also known as the salt and pepper finish, this takes a lot of skill to achieve. It involves grinding to reveal the lightest aggregate possible. This requires a lot of planning but when done right, the results will be well worth it.
Nil Exposure
Also known as zero exposure, only the very top most crust of your concrete will be removed in order to accept any chemicals or other products for polishing or coating. The concrete must be installed perfectly – even the slightest variation may result in the surface not being touched, resulting in an inconsistent finish, or patches of aggregate will show through. You need to ensure the concrete has been well-laid. The trick to this is having a very experienced installer, who has used this method successfully.
Warehouse Finish
This is particularly good for older slabs of concrete prone to cracking, staining or other damage. If you’re after a rustic look, this is the finish for you.
Satin vs. Gloss
A satin finish will give you long-lasting coverage and scratch resistance. It’s also low maintenance and won’t turn yellow.
A gloss finish will give you a wow factor. As it suggests, your surface will be glossy and shiny and give your area a more upmarket feel.
Put simply, if you want eco-friendly, cost-effective and low-maintenance floors that look spectacular as well, then you need to give Eco Grind a call.
