Collingwood Concrete Grinding
There are now more options than ever when deciding what to use for the floor in your business or home. The more traditional methods such as timber and tiles are quickly being replaced by concrete; the durable and highly customizable flooring offers many benefits and opportunities. It can be polished grinded or a myriad of other options.
In a recent Collingwood Concrete Grinding project we undertook, we removed surface irregularities from the concrete. This is caused by conventional construction methods, and general wear and tear. The grinding treatment returns it to a smooth slab. After the carpet has been removed, glue can often be left behind creating an eyesore and obstructions on the concrete floor. Concrete grinding is used to remove all of the old impurities on the concrete and works for substances like epoxy, carpet adhesive and paint.
Using various heavy duty polishing machines with diamond grits, the surface is ground down to the desired level of smoothness. With this Collingwood concrete grinding project, the floor was ground down to produce an existing concrete floor with the desired level of shine low or high gloss finish, and smoothness. Regardless of the condition, concrete grinding can usually be performed on any slab.
The Collingwood Concrete grinding project preceded major renovations to get the concrete prepared for the polishing process. Floor grinding can also refer to evening out raised areas, and grinding enhances the strength and durability without a lot of extra costs on top. It works on most concrete surfaces, like driveways, patios, paths, floors and walkways. The process makes everything level, removes cracks and uneven sections reducing trip hazards while eliminating places for dust and mould to form at the same time.
There are two primary methods of concrete grinding, wet and dry. The dry version is used to polish the concrete, whether it’s the walls floors, or countertops. Both methods often achieve the same result, but use different techniques in the grinding process. The wet method uses water. The water keeps the diamond abrasives at a lower temperature and isn’t as dusty. The wet method also increases the longevity of the grinding and increases the time until another treatment is needed, while also providing a sleeker look.
Concrete Grinding provides many benefits for concrete flooring including increased strength and durability. It often precedes the polishing process and is quickly becoming a favoured trend in homes and businesses all over Australia.
